The Costa Brava is a coastal strip stretching from about 40 km north of Barcelona along the entire seaboard of the province of Girona. This is an area featuring extraordinarily beautiful landscape, with numerous rugged gorges, interspersed with small bays offering fine sand. The huge Bay of Roses with its fine-grained sand, only 30 km away south of the French border, has been well-known to windsurfers and kitesurfers for many years. An exciting and safe spot where everybody will have fun - wave enthusiasts, freestyle acrobats, freeriders, children, and kitesurfers alike!

At the Southern end of the Bay of Roses, the "Club Mistral Golf de Roses" centre opened its doors for the first time in summer 2004. The two prevailing winds, the Tramontana and the Garbi, dominate the region around the Bay of Roses, turning it into a first-rate surf sport.

The vast sandy expanse calls important episodes from the country's history to mind, from Roman rule to Napoleon's occupation. Roses is assumed to be in the same location as ancient Rhode, a colony established by the Greek in the 5th century B.C. Today's population makes its living mainly off the tourist trade and fishing. The picturesque alleyways of the nearby village of L'Escala are frequently filled with hustle and bustle. There is certainly no shortage of sights worth visiting in this region, and cosy cafés and restaurants invite visitors to linger when they feel like taking a break.
