Dahab, Egypt

From Sharm El Sheikh

A taxi from the airport is the easiest option. It will take you directly to your accommodation in Dahab. The current price is 150 LE - or 200 LE for a microbus if you have lots of equipment. The trip takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are always many drivers, so if you wait patiently you will always get a car for this price. The bus station is a short journey by taxi (35-50LE) from the airport, and there are buses travelling to Dahab every two hours, with the last one leaving Sharm at about 0:30 a.m. and the first one at about 7:00 a.m. Times tend to vary a bit. Bus tickets are 20 LE per person. Be aware that the locals may try to charge you more. Ask someone for the correct price.

From Taba

Again, a taxi is the easiest option. The journey time is about 2.5 hours, and the price should be around 250 LE. Buses are less frequent; they depart about four times a day. Their schedule is not available, but the cost is about 20 LE also. You will need to take a short taxi journey from the airport to the bus station, which costs about 35-50 LE. Be prepared to be tough, but polite when discussing the price.

From Cairo

The easiest option is to fly to Sharm El Sheikh from the Domestic Terminal at Cairo Airport. Egypt Air charges about $140 for non-residents. After your arrival, take a taxi at Sharm el Sheikh to Dahab (see above). If you are already at the airport, you can buy tickets on site. If not, go to one of the many travel agents in Downtown Cairo around Midan Tahrir. Microbuses travel at various time of the day and night; the 8-hour drive to Dahab takes you mostly through Nuweiba from El Marg. El Marg can be easily reached on the Cairo metro. It is a rather unpleasant depot with taxis and minibuses going just about anywhere in Egypt.

Good luck there! Tickets for a Cairo - Dahab microbus with a full load of passengers should cost about 100 LE per person, although prices will vary wildly depending on how lucky you get.
Most backpackers use the East Delta bus service from the Turgoman bus station in central Cairo. Departure times are approximately 8:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., and midnight. Tickets costs 75 LE for non-residents. It is advisable to buy your ticket on the day before your trip. The buses tend to be less crowded at night during in winter and during the day in summer.
