Gran Canaria has become the home of the international windsurfing elite over the last few years. Stars like Björn Dunkerbeck, Marcos Perez, Vidar Jensen, Jonas Ceballos, Philip Köster and the Moreno sisters have lived here since they were very young or were even born on the island. Other professionals like to come here to train. It's no wonder, because conditions are perfect. The trade wind blows constantly almost throughout the year!

The Club Mistral centre is located directly behind the glorious Bay of Bahia Feliz, which is adjoined by a holiday resort in a garden that is more like a park. In winter, Bahia Feliz is one of the best spots on the Canary Islands. The wind blows sideshore from the left and inside the bay, with its flat water, conditions are suitable for practising beach and water starts or gybing. Further out, wave novices will find a swell, with waves that are just right for jumping. But not only experienced surfers will enjoy this spot; beginners, too, will generally find somewhat calmer conditions in the morning in which to make their first attempts at windsurfing.

In summer, the trade winds are stronger and more constant – but they mostly come more from the north, so that Bahía Feliz is frequently in the wind shadow of the island during high summer. However, we have used our imagination and now offer surfing excursions in the centre's own bus in summer, to the high-wind spots in the vicinity of the famous venues at Pozo Izquierdo, Salinas de Arinanga, or Ketchup.

Gran Canaria has mountains that are up to 2000 m high, beckoning you to go mountain biking or hiking. Magnificent dune landscapes, bizarre rock massifs, fertile valleys and subtropical forests alternate, all within a very small distance.
As you can see, there is sufficient variety and all of this is combined with pleasant temperatures the whole year round.
