On Friday evening we met around 20:00 at Munich airport to catch the Air Berlin flight to Cairo at 22:20. We had quite a pleasant flight and could even sleep for a while so we hit Cairo International Airport somehow refreshed at around 3 in the morning! There we were greeted very professionally by Ronny from Midland Travel. He was waving his Club Mistral sign and had already organized our visas. We didn’t have to wait anywhere, Ronny took us straight to the baggage claim and our transfer to Ras Sudr was under way. During the drive we had a chance to get to know the other Kite City participants and after 3 hours we reached the Hotel Creative Green.



The first impression was very good although the hotel seemed quite empty, but we had a very friendly welcome by the young guys at reception and after a short while they showed us all to our rooms. The rooms don’t fully comply with 5 Star standards but this is something you should expect in Ras Sudr. The rooms are generous in size and functionally furnished and we couldn’t find any reason to complain.



We all had a great sea view, the rooms where located directly at the Club Mistral center and with a little bit of imagination you could already see that the entire complex will look very nice in the near future. The gardeners were working really hard every day and some oleander trees and cacti were in line waiting to be planted.



After unpacking we went straight to the Club Mistral center where Mohammend gave us a warm welcome and a very detailed spot description. Ras Sudr is the perfect spot for kite beginners and advanced kiters thanks to a huge natural lagoon. At high tide and with good winds from the right (sideshore) it’s excellent fun for any kiter. The wind blows unhindered from north-northeast over an undeveloped area to the ocean. There is no shore break, no gusty wind, just a very flat and shallow area as far as the eye can see. Those who are a little bit more confident and looking for excitement in easy waves can leave the safety of the lagoon and head out towards the open sea.



Time flies when you are having fun – one evening we made a wonderful trip to Ras Sudr town for an excellent dinner and the next evening it was already time to pack our stuff ready for our transfer back to Cairo. We had 3 awesome days and came to this conclusion: Ras Sudr is the perfect spot for those looking for perfect conditions on the water and a quiet hotel. Those looking for a 5 Star Hotel with lots of animation will not be suited to Ras Sudr.
