15|06|10 +++ Travel Report Prea/Brazil
We started our trip in Fortaleza and drove all along the beach up to Prea/Jericoacora and we were totally impressed by the beauty of the nature and the endless beaches. Almost the whole trip was made on the beach, but in future there will be some restrictions on driving on the beach. Our experienced driver and a brand new Jeep could manage the way with no problems at all!

After a long flight from Munich via Lisbon to Fortaleza with Air Portugal we arrived quite tired and at night. Customs took ages which made it nearly midnight by the time we left the aiport of Fortaleza. We spent the first night in Cumbuco as all hotels had been fully booked in Fortaleza. We recommend to stay the first night in Fortaleza and drive the next morning during daylight up to Fortaleza as there is so much to look at! Of course we can always assist you in organizing such a Jeep tour. You don’t have to be afraid of losing one day of wind because there is wind every day from July-January.

We passed by Paracuru, Flechiras and after an overnight in Icaraizinho we finally arrived in Prea. The first night we spent in Chili Beach Hotel in Jericoacoara which was really one of the most chilled out places we have ever been! This most beautiful hotel with only 6 rooms is located close to a virgin beach and only 5 minutes from Jeri’s center and nightlife. If you are really looking for privacy and luxury then this is the place to be-please find more information under http://www.club-mistral.com/en/destinations/hotels/22/131

The next day we took the shuttle bus to Prea where our brand new built Club Mistral/Skyriders Center is located. Of course there was plenty of wind and we could go straight onto the water and we had fun windsurfing and kiting. The huge and wide beach offers endless space- hard to beat! Marko Berger our center manager is there for his 3rd season and is a fantastic kitesurfer himself. He knows Prea and Jeri very well and can always give you the best of advice.

For the following 3 days we stayed at Vila Bela Vista in Jeri. Patricia and her family personally take care of all guests and they really make you feel at home. The hotel offers 14 rooms and we recommend the spacious deluxe suites--please find more information under

Jericoacoara of course is a must when you come to the north of Brazil. The ambience of this former little fishing village is unique and the sunset at Duna del Sol with the Capoeira dancers is unforgettable.

Prea, the smaller and typical fishing village is also a very nice place. Here our Club Mistral/Skyriders Center is located which is about 10km from Jeri. You can also get there by buggy as there is no proper road between Prea and Jeri.

If you are looking for peace and relaxation this is the right place. You can go at night to Jeri if you like to join the nightlife once in a while. Prea is the right place for people who want to escape from the crowd.
During the last days of our trip we stayed at Vila Prea in Prea and we liked it very much. You stay in wooden bungalows directly at the beach. You fall asleep and wake up with the ocean breeze. On the beautiful terrace you can choose a different breakfast every day before you get on the water - please find more information under

When you are looking for a bit more luxury we recommend Rancho de Peixe next door which has a very nice pool - please find more information under http://www.club-mistral.com/en/destinations/hotels/22/115

You can also make a combination between Jeri and Prea. We have a huge choice of several accommodations and are happy to assist you.
For kiting Prea is definitely the better place and also for windsurfers it is a great choice for high season as Jeri is very crowded and only for wave experienced windsurfers. We have now a very big center there and a new beach bar/restaurant next door which belongs to Vila Vento which will be finished soon. You do not have to move from there as we have everything close by.

Important to know: It is difficult to get any cash in Jeri or Prea therefore we recommend to change enough at the airport of Fortaleza upon your arrival. The next cash machine is in Jijoca and it takes you at least half a day and it is not guaranteed that you will get the money.
