The radical look of the new ICE 2011 reveals that there was a lot of development work. This World Cup Wave Sail is designed to be able to get the maximum out of any situation. The key success factors of the ICE were maintained, for example the sensational handling as a result of the optimized foot geometry, the impressive performance over a very wide wind range and the instantaneous reaction. The result is impressive: The ICE 2011 feels much lighter and is even more radical to direct. Since the ICE was designed for all World Cup spots it will work on all your favourite spots. Actually, all ICE sizes were designed for RDM masts, but they work equally well with SDM-masts and feels softer and can easily be controlled. Like no other sail the DUKE covers an extremely wide range from wave to flat water freestyle perfectly. The 2011 model fits due to the optimized luff sail, the sail tension and its profile more than ever perfectly and will meet your expectations in any conditions. The requirements for a power wave sail and a freestyle sail are very similar: great planing potential combined with maximum handling and good controllability. For this reason, the Duke was designed to 5.4 m² as a powerful wave sail. Not only because of the effective TWIN.TRIM.CLEW, it also has the greatest trimming of all the other North Sails sails, and can easily be controlled like the DUKE 2011. For sizes 5.9 m² and above Kai Hopf was inspired by the Tripple Freestyle World Champion Jose “Gollito” Estredo and EFPT Champion Andre Paskowski. The result is: 5 battens and HYPER.LEECH II and the unique foot geometry improves the handling especially during difficult freestyle tricks. New: all DUKE are now designed on RDM masts and developed to maximum capacity, but they are still compatible with traditional SDM masts!

Still characteristic of the superbly balanced range of NATURAL is the PROGRESSIVE.BATTEN.CONFIGURATION. As a result the focus for sizes up to 5.8 m² is still handling and craft, which explains why only 5 battens are in place. At 6.2 m² and above the performance is important but also the size of sail was concentrated on simple rig control and handling.

The secret is the reduced aspect-ratio and the fairly high-tension foil guaranteeing maximum performance without camber induced support. The new X-Type has experienced an optimisation especially in getting planing , as the wider chord strongly supports the acceleration. All of this without increasing the boom length as the more pronounced CROSS.BATTEN deems this unnecessary. The X-Type is the combination of spontaneous power delivery, top speed and pleasant handling, and for rigging a sail No.Cam is even more versatile and provides powerful thrust and the ease of a special No.Cam sail. The X-Type draws its potential from HYPER.LEECH II and TT.TOP II, which ensures a more active twist. In addition it features a slightly lower profile for more low-down power and a pressure point further at the front. This facilitates rig control and steering and significantly contributes to what is an unusually high stability pressure point for a NoCam sail. Through the use of PROGRESSIVE.BATTEN.CONFIGURATION all X-Type models feature batten numbers relevant to size and application. This helps reduce weight and improves handling. What’s more all X-Type sizes can be used with a single 460 mast - one mast fits all!
The most successful sail in all international magazine tests has been completely redesigned in 2011. The result is a more compact shape with slightly longer CROSS.BATTEN, which is similar to the WARP F2010, and whose increased chord has an extremely positive effect on the acceleration! Being the little brother of the World Cup WARP F2010, the RAM matches the WARP´s performance by more than 90%, but still has its own special and user-friendly character.
