North Sails

With the EGO, North Sails brought a completely new breed of wave sails on the market that can and do deliver more than regular wave sails. They don´t only dare to look ahead but already are ahead – the EGO marks a new era of Concept Wave Sails and is the ultimate wave sail for innovative riders.
Built with exceptional materials, the EGO incorporates the latest trends in sail design: the BALANCED LUFF LENGTH delivers the perfect balance of luff length to boom length and the proven NORTH SAILS CROSS BATTEN CONCEPT in combination with the CUTAWAY CLEW brings real benefits in handling. Due to its special elastic characteristics, the EGO is exclusively designed for RDM masts, as these perfectly match the softer feeling and shorter luff. Nevertheless the EGO is and always will be an extreme radical sail, just as the VOODOO, and delivers extreme fun – even in extreme conditions.

Only victory counts in the different World Cup events. That´s why a world cup wave sail must have the potential to get the maximum out of every situation. That´s what the ICE is for. Thanks to the optimized foot geometry, a slightly set back centre of effort and a reduced sail foil tension, the ICE works under the widest range of conditions and develops maximum performance even under critical circumstances. Although the ICE is a sail which reacts super fast and is extremely radical, it nevertheless is a true handling miracle. Originally it was designed for RDM masts, but it´s still compatible with SDM masts and thus feels even softer, can be easily pumped onto the plane and can be easily controlled. All these abilities are also supported by the modified luff curve, the optimized leech tension and the iMODULAR.DESIGN´s optimized sail weight, and make your sessions unique experiences – no matter where you go to the water!
New: The ICE HD – a monofilm-free X.PLY version which is even stronger and can thus be sailed in any hardcore conditions.

Very rarely so many physically different windsurfers became so intensively involved in the development of a single sail. This time heavyweights Jimmy Diaz and Kai Hopf put in their time as well as our flyweight freestylers Gollito, Brawzinho and André Paskowski and they all gave their best. As a result we believe no other sail can cover the entire range from waves to flat water Freestyle as perfectly as the new DUKE. The basic requirements for a Power Wave and a Freestyle sail are first very similar: great planing potential combined with maximum handling and good controllability. That is why the DUKE sizes up to 5.4 m˛ were designed as powerful Wave sails which have an outstanding variance of trim and can be easily controlled by even medium weight riders thanks to the brand new TWIN.TRIM.CLEW. For sizes 5.9 m˛ and above, Kai Hopf let himself be inspired by the Freestyle elite; as in the last year´s edition 5 battens and HYPER.LEECH II are basic equipments, this years breakthrough was the optimized foot geometry which makes even hard Freestyle tricks easy to handle. All DUKE models are made to suit SDM masts, which ideally fit this type of direct-feeling sail and even complete the excellent performance of this sail.

The most versatile sail of our program has been developed to deliver a high performing and easy to handle all-rounder to anyone who doesn’t want to deal with technical gimmicks and trim. The perfect handling abilities and the well-balanced performance of last year´s model have even improved in 2010 – this year you need even less time and knowledge for the right setup, less trimming know-how and less time to get your sail ready. As a result, the focus for sizes up to 6.6m2 is still on handling and pressure point stability, which explains why only 5 battens are in place. At 7.0m2 and above, the design focuses on planing power and Kai Hopf once again concentrated on simple rig control and handling characteristics. Both versions offer excellent control, a high level of comfort, and plenty of planing ability - the perfect synthesis of speed, acceleration, and handling. The NATURAL will make windsurfing much less complicated – and the question about the right sail will be simply obsolete.

The ultimate NoCam performance sail which guarantees maximum performance thanks to the high-tension foil – without any camber induced support. Compared to the previous model, it has improved planing without compromising control when over-powered. Thanks to the combination of spontaneous performance delivery with top speed, great handling abilities AND the rigging advantages of a No Cam sail, the X-TYPE is even more versatile, with enormous thrust and the special ease of use of a No.Cam sail. The X_TYPE draws its potential from HYPER LEECH II and TT TOP II, which ensure a more active twist. In addition, it features a slightly lower profile for more low-down power, and a pressure point further at the front. This not only facilitates rig control and steering but also significantly contributes to what is an unusually high stability pressure point for a No.Cam sail. In sails starting at 6.6m2, the rig’s agility reaps a huge benefit from the CUTAWAY.CLEW outhaul that allows the use of a shorter boom while minimizing the rotation forces of the X_TYPE.

The DRIVE.LIGHT is an ultra light Crossover sail for a wide range of applications. Thanks to the balanced shape and very low weight, this sail is perfect for all beginners and intermediates – it makes every new step in your windsurfing career more than easy and supports the learning of new maneuvers in a great way. The sophisticated mixture of materials, in combination with the RIPSTOP FRAME DESIGN allows the use of an extremely lightweight monofilm, without compromising durability.
