Our Member of the Month for May 2005 is Edwin Pena. Edwin comes from the Dominican Republic and has been working for our Club Mistral centre in Cabarete for over 3 years.

With his honest, friendly manner, Edwin has won a firm place in everybody's hearts. He is always in a good mood, like so many Dominicans, and is highly motivated, reliable and always ready to learn something new.

Edwin is employed in the service sector at our centre, assisting our guests with equipment, and also gives windsurfing tuition. Apart from Spanish (his mother tongue), he now speaks very good English, too.

His natural friendliness and open mindedness towards guests and foreign cultures make him extremely likeable and ensure that guests always feel welcome.

Edwin loves windsurfing and still practises a lot in order to make progress with his freestyle skills.

Recently he also commenced kitesurfing. In typical Dominican fashion, he is teaching himself to kitesurf, simply trying it out to see how he goes.

He has already done his first jumps with the kite ... even before being able to sail upwind properly.

Apart from his work at the centre, he generally spends his free days on the water, too, where he devotes his time to his great love - fishing.

A number of team and guest dinners have taken place at his home, with fresh fish that he has caught and prepared himself. Hospitality is an absolute matter of course for Edwin.

His wife, Oralis, is in her 8th month of pregnancy and will give birth to a daughter in late May. This will be Edwin's first child and he is of course very proud. He loves children and is looking forward to the baby very much.

We are extremely satisfied with Edwin's work and hope he will remain with our team in Cabarete for a long time.
