The Team Member of the Month for November 2009 is Jeremy Griffiths, better known as Jay, who has been working for us since 2007.

It all started in Dahab, where we were luckily able to woo him from our “competitor” Neilson, for whom he was working as windsurf instructor, mountain bike guide and center manager in Dahab and Turkey for several years.

When he took up working for Club Mistral, he was initially responsible for our new center at the Meridien Hotel, which he helped to establish and get going.
After one year, when we had some changes at the Hilton Center, he was moved to there.
Since then he´s been running this place – a “mission” which he really takes seriously, and which he tries to fulfill as best as he can.

Jay shouldn´t be underestimated and don’t be fooled by any first impression of him.
He may seem kind of hazy and lost (which is definitely meant lovingly!) but actually he´s just a unique and very intelligent person, who´s doing a great job and who puts everything into everything he does.

well... meetings are just tiring sometimes...

Our guests love him because he always has time and an open ear for them, and because he always gives them the perfect equipment advice and prepares their gear in a way that they don´t even have to check their harness lines – his knowledge about windsurfing and the right equipment trim is endless!!

The team loves him because he treats everybody equally and gives the feeling that he only wants the best for all of them.

Apart from that working with him is just pure fun – laughing a lot is always on the top of the daily agenda…

Concerning work Jay is notorious for his canniness which, in times of economic crisis, assumes alarming proportions!
When new carpets were needed for the center, he just bought the old ones from the neighbor center which they actually wanted to throw away… “They were still alright, mate!”
Except for Jay, with whom can you save costs to that extent? Maybe sometimes a little bit too excessively…

Windsurfing is definitely passion no.1 in Jay´s life.
Jay is one of those likeable human beings who hide their light under a bushel, and he would rather show what he can do on the water, than talking on the beach about it.

Jay´s other passions are travelling – for quite a long time he was doing this in Australia where he was looking for the best wave spots of the continent – and mountain biking.



His biking is just as fast and good as his windsurfing. He already turned his biking hobby into a career when working for Neilson and Club Mistral, and for several years he worked as a bike and motorbike mechanic.

Jay is definitely a unique person through and through and completely crazy in a positive way. You just have to like him!

His typical English dry sense of humor makes him the perfect solo entertainer who makes sure that you laugh ‘til you cry.
At the same time he´s a very calm and relaxed guy in whose company you just feel good.
If you have seen the movie “Ice Age” and knows Jay, you might be tempted to draw a parallel between Jay and the sweet and likable sloth Sid. There are definitely some similarities…



Jay, don´t even ever think about working for someone other than Club Mistral – anyway we would never let you go!!
You´re just great and we love you, mate! That´s it.
